Cultural communications agency Midas has acquired literary agency The bks Agency.
Co-founded in 2018 by Midas c.e.o. Jason Bartholomew, together with former Hodder & Stoughton marketing director Jessica Killingley, and former Watkins m.d. James Spackman, The bks Agency represents more than 50 authors, and has sold licences in more than 20 territories as well as securing film deals.
Bartholomew said: “I am thrilled that Midas and The bks Agency will be joining forces. For Midas, this immediately strengthens our overall portfolio and expands our offering for clients. Jessica and James’ collective experience and expertise will add value across the whole of our client-base; particularly as Midas continues to pivot, adapt, and stay nimble in the ever-changing arts landscape. We’re looking forward to working closer together, and to bringing our collective clients new opportunities.”
Killingley added: “Building the agency alongside Jason and James over the last couple of years has been one of the most rewarding and fun things I’ve done in my career. Being able to take it to the next level by joining the Midas team is so exciting. I have so much admiration for how they combine their publishing industry legacy with forward thinking innovation and excellence in author care.”
Commenting on the merger, Spackman said: “I've liked and respected the Midas team for ages and joining with such a professional and charismatic group is a tremendously exciting prospect. Our existing authors at The bks Agency will feel the benefit too - we will do great things together."
The merger with The bks Agency follows Midas’ rebrand in autumn 2020, expanding into new business areas.
