Sam Missingham has launched Services For Authors, a directory of freelances and businesses offering publishing assistance to authors.
The venture is “a response to the ever-growing needs of authors, traditionally and self-published to understand in more detail how the industry works, but importantly to find people they can trust to work with,” Missingham said.
The directory forms the main part of the Services for Authors website, where authors can search for cover designers, proofreaders, contracts experts, web designers and others. There is also a blog which with advice from experts to help authors navigate the complexities of publishing, an area where authors can post questions about publishing and a resource where authors can post their work briefs.
Rates for individuals and companies listing publishing services start at £5 per month and Services For Authors takes no commission from any work the they receive through the listing.
Missingham, who has 10 years' experience in publishing, said: “My hope is that Services For Authors becomes an essential resource for authors and a place to find great people to help them with their books.”
She added: “I have made it very cost-effective for freelances and businesses to join the directory and importantly, I take no commission on the work they get from their listing. I hope that this will help freelances just starting out, in particular.”
Missingham also runs The Empowered Author coaching website which originally launched as Lounge Marketing in 2018.
