Michael Joseph editor Eve Hall is moving to Hodder & Stoughton to take up a new position as commissioning editor, crime and thriller.
She will join the company in the New Year, on 4th January 2018, reporting to crime and thriller publisher Ruth Tross.
Hall began her career in marketing at Michael Joseph in 2014 before moving to the editorial team in 2015, where she has worked with authors including Claire Douglas, Karen Perry and Ragnar Jonasson.
In her new role with Hodder, Hall will commission a list of new authors across crime, thriller and psychological suspense, with a particular brief to drive backlist and digital strategy for authors.
Tross said: "It’s been a great year for Hodder & Stoughton’s crime publishing, with top 10 bestsellers from John Connolly, Jeffery Deaver, Sabine Durrant, John Grisham, Erin Kelly and Peter Robinson. Our highly successful unit is expanding with this new position to grow our crime publishing significantly over the next few years. Eve impressed us mightily with her knowledge of the genre, her enthusiasm and her commercial instincts, and we are very pleased that she is joining us to acquire the bestsellers of the future."
Hall said: "I can’t express what an incredible experience being part of the Michael Joseph team has been. I have had the chance to be part of some hugely exciting projects, work alongside bestselling authors and with immensely talented colleagues who I know I’ll miss as friends. However, joining Hodder was an opportunity far too good to pass up and I am absolutely thrilled to be contributing to their exciting and hugely successful crime and thriller list in the New Year."
