Hodder & Stoughton has acquired the fifth recipe book from MOB Kitchen, Comfort MOB: Food That Makes You Feel Good.
Carolyn Thorne bought world all-languages rights direct from the author, MOB Kitchen founder Ben Lebus. Publication is slated for 2nd September 2021.
MOB Kitchen started out as an idea in 2016 when Lebus noticed that none of his university friends could cook. He started creating overhead videos of recipe preparation and the idea turned into MOB kitchen. He has published four books with Pavilion: Mob Kitchen: Feed Four or More for Under £10 (2018), MOB Veggie: Feed Four or More for under £10 (2019), Earth MOB: Reduce Waste, Spend Less, be Sustainable (2020) and Speedy MOB: 12-minute Meals for Four People (2020).
The fifth book will be packed with "old-school bangers with a MOB Kitchen twist, such as Roast Garlic Chicken Pie or Beef Brisket Lasagne, as well as fabulous modern day comfort recipes – dishes reflecting flavours from around the world, like Sriracha Crispy Tofu, or Coca Cola Chicken Wings, plus some healthier hearty ideas that feel like a big hug just when you need it."
Thorne said: "With everything happening in the world right now, and so much uncertainty with the pandemic, people are turning to home comforts more than ever. Warming, nourishing, comforting food has become an essential part of life in lockdown and our willingness to spend a bit more money on the weekly shop to create dishes that make us feel good is seen out by all the trends."
Lebus commented: "I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Hodder & Stoughton for MOB Kitchen’s fifth book. This is the ultimate comfort food bible, with some old-school classics and newer, fresher recipes. There is no more relevant and important time for food that just makes you feel good. In H&S I have found a publisher who understand the vision for the MOB brand."
