Children's bookshop company Moon Lane has launched a hip hop YouTube series with the help of former DJ turned bookseller Nicci "Cheeks" Rosengarten.
Hosted on the Moon Lane channel, the HipHop Love Books story time sessions will see DJs and hip hop artists read children's books, to bring "two much-loved worlds together, to boost morale and spread the joy of reading to children around the world during the coronavirus pandemic".
Currently available to view are videos featuring solo artist Chali 2na reading Tiny T Rex and the Very Dark Dark by Jonathan Stuzman (Chronicle), and American DJ and record producer Cut Chemist reading Dr Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham (HarperCollins Children's Books). Further artists and titles are expected to be announced, with the series continuing until 30th September.
Rosengarten has two hip hop albums to her name, and previously represented other artists. She is now the business manager and children's bookseller at the newest branch of Moon Lane Children's Books & Toys shops in Ramsgate.
