Headline communications director Georgina Moore is leaving the publisher to join Midas Public Relations as director of books and publishing.
Moore will be joining the Midas PR management board alongside directors Nicola Green and Tory Lyne-Pirkis, and joint c.e.o.s Steven Williams and Jason Bartholomew, and will take up the new role on 1st May.
Bartholomew said: “I am absolutely thrilled that Georgina is joining us at Midas. This is a real coup for Midas, and one that will immediately elevate our business. I have worked alongside Georgina for over 10 years – during my employment at Headline – and it is no secret that she is one of the best publicists in the business. While Midas continues to push forward in areas outside of books – from the arts, to festivals, film and beyond – the core of the Midas business is still very much authors and publishing. Georgina has decades of award- winning campaign work ranging from literary fiction, debut authors, and celebrity memoirs. This skill-set – alongside Georgina’s creativity, flair, and little black book of contacts – will pay dividends across our client base, and boost Midas to new heights.”
After working as a bookseller at Dillons Chiswick, Moore joined the publicity department at Hodder & Stoughton in 1997 where she spent five years rising to become publicity manager. She became publicity director of Headline in 2002 running the press office and was promoted to communications director in 2014.
Moore said: “I am excited about joining Midas PR, and their Management Board. It just feels like the right time for a new challenge. Jason Bartholomew has such energetic plans for the growth of the company, and I am really looking forward to running the books team and playing my part in making Midas the go to agency for passionate, creative and strategic campaigns for books. Headline has been my absolute dream job. I have been so happy at the company and at Hachette and have been so fortunate in the support I have been given by the MDs I have had: Martin Neild, Kerr Macrae, Jane Morpeth and Mari Evans. I would like to thank Jamie Hodder-Williams too for all his support over the years. I also have been so fortunate in the talent that I have worked with in my team.”
Headline m.d. Mari Evans said: “Georgina has been a powerhouse of a publicist at Headline for many years now and we’re fortunate to have enjoyed her talents for such a long stretch. Our authors have flourished under her care and attention, but it is, of course, time for her to find a new challenge and so she embarks on this next chapter in her distinguished career at Midas with our best possible wishes for continued success.”
During her time at Headline, Georgina worked on PPC award winning campaigns including Kate Adie’s The Kindness of Strangers, Living History by Hillary Clinton, By Myself And Then Some by Lauren Bacall and Gazza: My Story by Paul Gascoigne. She has been shortlisted for PPC campaigns for among others The Wrong Knickers by Bryony Gordon, and A Year of Wonder by Clemency Burton-Hill. Moore, who lectures in book publicity at Kingston and UCL and has been a keynote speaker at the FutureBook conference, also established and oversaw the Rooftop Book Club events and created the New Voices tour.
