More than 50 Penguin Random House (PRH) staff are voicing the agony aunt letters for the audiobook of Dolly Alderton’s latest book Dear Dolly (Fig Tree), making it one of the largest casts ever for a PRH title.
The audiobook, published on 27th October, the same date as the hardback and e-book editions, is a collection of Alderton’s favourite agony aunt letters and answers from her Dear Dolly agony aunt column in Sunday Times Style. Readers’ questions include breakups and body issues, families, friendships, dating, divorce, the pleasures and pitfalls of social media, sex, loneliness, longing, love and everything in between. Alderton narrates her own responses.
Meredith Benson, senior editor at Penguin Random House Audio, said: “As soon as I sent the casting call out to colleagues, I was inundated with budding actors from across the company. It was lovely to show off our fantastic studios to colleagues who don’t often get to see what we do in the audio team, and each one sounded great in the booth, narrating the most extraordinary range of agony aunt letters from readers. The audiobook is an authentic, hilarious and heartfelt offering, perfect for curling up with on an autumnal evening, or brightening a rainy journey to work.”
