Avon senior commissioning editor Phoebe Morgan is joining Trapeze as editorial director, covering parental leave for Sam Eades.
Joining from HarperCollins, where she commissions crime, thrillers and women's fiction, Morgan will take up her new role at the Orion imprint on 4th March 2019, reporting to publisher Anna Valentine.
Over the past two years, Morgan has worked with crime and thriller authors including Amanda Robson, Claire Allan and Katerina Diamond. This year she won a London Book Fair Trailblazer Award and was the co-chair for the London branch of the SYP. Morgan is also a thriller author herself; her debut The Doll House was published last autumn with HQ while two more books, including another psychological thriller, The Girl Next Door, are in the works for 2019 and beyond.
Valentine said: "Phoebe is a trailblazer in more ways than one, and I’ve long admired her astute, innovative and creative publishing. I’m delighted that she is joining Team Trapeze and am excited for her to curate her own list of authors while also driving the fiction list forward to growth."
Morgan said: "I am so sad to be leaving the brilliant team at Avon who have given me so many opportunities over the last few years, but when the chance came to join Trapeze I couldn’t turn it down. I have long admired their dynamic team and am so thrilled at this chance to help shape their list. I look forward to now simply being a HarperCollins author and am very grateful for all the company has done for me, while being excited about my future with Orion."
