Tina Mories has been appointed account director at Midas, the independent books, arts and culture communications agency.
She joins from HarperCollins Children’s Books and will work across a range of leading publishing brands, book prizes, festivals and book campaigns.
As PR campaign director at HarperCollins Children’s Books, where she had worked since February 2020, Mories led book campaigns for authors including David Walliams, Alice Oseman, Derek Landy and others. She had previously been senior PR manager at Bonnier Books, working across YA imprint Hot Key Books and middle-grade fiction imprint Piccadilly Press.
During her tenure at Bonnier Books, Mories led a number of top 10 bestselling campaigns, working with authors including Holly Black, E Lockhart and Garth Nix. She was behind the campaign for Konnie Huq’s Cookie! And the Most Annoying Boy in the World (Piccadilly Press), which was the biggest selling hardback debut in the children’s category in 2019 and was shortlisted for the PPC Children’s Campaign of the Year.
Mories began her career in PR at Abrams & Chronicle Books, where she worked across a range of non-fiction campaigns for Michelle Visage, Lisa Eldridge, James Elroy and the The Wes Anderson Collection, as well as leading on brand illustrated titles for Disney, Pixar, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
In 2021, she won the PPC Award for YA fiction campaign with Yusef Salaam and Ibi Zoboi’s novel in verse, Punching the Air (Balzer & Bray/Harperteen), and was highly commended at the PPC Awards in 2022 for Hannah Gold’s Blue Peter Book Award-winner and Waterstones Children’s Book of the Year, The Last Bear (HarperCollins Children’s Books).
Hannah McMillan, director at Midas, said: “Tina’s reputation for creating eye-catching campaigns precedes her, alongside outstanding author and illustrator care, and an exceptional understanding of the industry. As Midas looks towards an exciting autumn, we are thrilled that Tina is bringing her wealth of knowledge, experience, and creativity to the team.”
Mories added: “I am delighted to be joining the trailblazing team at Midas – their unparalleled commitment to delivering collaborative and creative campaigns is second to none and I am excited to learn from the very best in the business. Although it is bittersweet to be leaving all of my fantastic colleagues and authors at HarperCollins, the chance to expand into the fascinating and high-energy world of agency, after over a decade working in house, was too great an opportunity to pass up.”
