Bookseller Rising Star Eve Wersocki Morris is leaving her role as senior publicity manager at Simon & Schuster Children’s Books to launch EWM PR, a freelance specialist PR consultancy.
The focus of EWM PR will be on delivering children’s book press campaigns, book tours and standout events. Wersocki Morris will also continue to work with Simon & Schuster Children’s Books in a freelance capacity on several book campaigns, including A F Steadman.
She will leave her position in August after five and a half years in the role, during which she oversaw the PR strategy across several brand authors, major launches and bestsellers, from picture books to YA. Her campaigns have been nominated for several Publishing Publicity Circle awards, and she has worked on a number of high-priority campaigns for bestselling authors including Ben Miller, Sue Hendra and Liz Kessler.
Most recently, she has been responsible for the PR launch of the bestselling Skandar and the Phantom Rider by Steadman.
Wersocki Morris said: “It’s been a fantastic five and a half years at S&S Children’s Books and I will miss everyone. It’s been a joy to work with the most incredible team in children’s publishing and I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved together. I cannot wait to continue working on some amazing S&S books as a freelancer.”
Rachel Denwood, managing director at Simon & Schuster Children’s Books, added: “Eve has played a major part in the success of our list and we thank her for all her hard work and her incredible PR prowess. I look forward to watching EWN PR flourish and I am delighted that we will continue to work with Eve as she takes this exciting next step."
In addition to her role as publicist, Wersocki Morris is also a children’s author. Her debut book, The Bird Singers (Hodder Children’s Books), was longlisted for the Brandford Boase Award, while her second book, The Wildstorm Curse (Hodder Children’s Books), was an indie bookshop bestseller and has been praised for its dyslexia representation.
Simon & Schuster Children’s Books will be hiring a head of publicity, and the role is now open to applications.
