Muswell Press will publish The Lizard by actor Dugald Bruce-Lockhart, with William Boyd branding the thriller "outstanding".
Sarah and Kate Beal, publishers at Muswell Press, bought world rights (excluding North America) from Jeff Ourvan at the Jennifer Lyons Literary Agency in New York for publication in May 2020.
The publishers said: "Dugald is an utterly compelling new voice, we are delighted to be publishing this terrifically pacey and beautifully written debut thriller set in the Greek Isles – it is The Beach meets The Magus. We are not alone in loving The Lizard, William Boyd has described it as ‘a terrific, atmospheric thriller. Taut, compelling, masterfully constructed. Outstanding'."
Bruce-Lockhart, an actor and director who has worked with the RSC, National Theatre and Old Vic, has recently finished a stint as Michael Gove in the Last Temptation of Boris Johnson at the Park Theatre, London. Prior to that he spent two years in Mamma Mia playing the Swedish Dad.
