Cameron Myers has joined Penguin Business as commissioning editor from Hodder & Stoughton, succeeding Lydia Yadi, who is leaving the imprint for a new role at Penguin Random House USA.
Senior commissioning editor Yadi joined the imprint, then called Portfolio Penguin, in 2016 and has since published books including The Squiggly Career and You Coach You by Helen Tupper and Sarah Ellis, Everything is Figureoutable by entrepreneur and YouTube star Marie Forleo, Damaged Goods by Oliver Shah, The Man Who Solved the Market by Wall Street Journal journalist Greg Zuckerman and, for Penguin Life, the number one Sunday Times bestseller Preparing for the Perimenopause and Menopause by GP Louise Newson.
Yadi, who leaves on 14th July, said: “The last six years at Penguin Business have been incredible. It’s been an absolute joy to work with such smart and creative colleagues at Penguin General and so many talented authors. While it’s sad to be leaving, and I will miss the Penguin Business team greatly, I am excited to embark on a new adventure at PRH US and learn more about the American market in my new role.”
Martina O’Sullivan, publisher, said: “Lydia been instrumental to the success of Penguin Business over the past six years. We’re going to miss her enormously but it’s wonderful that she’ll still be at PRH – and hopefully we’ll get the chance to work with her in an entirely different way over the coming years.”
Myers joined Penguin Business on 6th June reporting to O’Sullivan. At Hodder & Stoughton he spent five years working in the general non-fiction team contributing to books including WTF? by Robert Peston and books including Step by Step by Simon Reeve, The Multi-Hyphen Method by Emma Gannon, The Unwelcome Visitor by Denise Welch and Clanlands by Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish. He was one of the Society of Young Publishers London’s events co-ordinators in 2019 and a Print Futures Awards Rising Star in 2020. He was promoted to editor last year and since then his publications have included Becoming the 0.1% by Gareth Timmins, The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe by David Leigh and the upcoming Have You Read George’s Podcast? by George the Poet.
In his new role he will be focusing on acquiring new books in personal development as well as taking on many of Yadi’s upcoming and existing authors including Samara Bay, Kanya King, Megan Hellerer and Marie Forleo.
Myers said: “I’m so excited to be joining Penguin Business. As well as having huge respect for the team, I’ve enjoyed reading their books for a long time – so it’s an honour to now be working on the list.”
O’Sullivan said: ”I am thrilled to have Cameron join the team. He’s a really talented editor with a passion for personal development so I’m really excited to see him develop this part of the list.”
