Myriad Editions is expanding its graphic novels list with the acquisition of a memoir by Nicola Streeten.
Corinne Pearlman, Myriad's creative director, acquired world rights directly from the author for Billy, Me & You.
The title will tell of the death of Streeten's two year old son following heart surgery. It follows Streeten and her partner trying to cope with day to day life. Streeten calls the book a "dead baby story that is funny". It will be published in September next year.
Streeten is the co-creator of Laydeez do Comics, a graphic novel forum with a focus on the new wave of comic work, ‘more domestic than superheroes’.
Managing director Candida Lacey said: "[Corinne Pearlman] has been instrumental in commissioning Myriad’s graphic works to date and is perfectly placed, as co-founder of both Comic Company and Cartoon County, to develop our graphic publishing in much the same way as we are building up the fiction list – that is, to build creative alliances and seek out and work with talented new authors."
