Literary scout Naomi Tongue has set up her own venture, Tongue Literary Scouting.
TLS scouts adult fiction and non-fiction, across all genres, and the agency’s first clients are A W Bruna in the Netherlands, Verlagsgruppe HarperCollins in Germany, and drama and documentary audio-visual start-up Chroma.
Commenting on the new company, Tongue (pictured), said: "In a year of extraordinary change, starting TLS felt incredibly empowering. Despite the challenging circumstances brought about by the pandemic, it is exciting to be embarking on the next stage of my career. Scouting is such a dynamic and rewarding role within the industry, and as important as ever. There is an abundance of content, and many fantastic opportunities for international publishers, as well as in film/TV and audio. I’m thrilled to be working with such wonderful clients."
Heide Kloth, editorial director of fiction at Verlagsgruppe HarperCollins, praised Tongue as "a brilliant scout with impeccable taste and an eye for projects that are exactly what we are looking for".
Before founding TLS, Tongue was a literary scout at LAJ Associates.
