Neem Tree Press has appointed Alison Savage to the newly created role of chief operating officer, as well as hiring Cecilia Bennett as senior editor and Yasmeen Doogue-Khan as marketing and PR executive.
Savage brings experience of over 32 years in book sales, operations and production. Following bookselling positions at Troika Books and Books Etc, she most recently worked at Gallic Books for more than 11 years as sales manager, operations director, and then deputy managing director.
Savage said: “Neem Tree Press is an exciting publisher at an exciting stage. I’m delighted to be part of the team.” The appointments are setting the wheels in motion for a significant growth phase ahead, The Bookseller understands.
Bennett joins as senior editor, while also studying for a PhD on the publication of translated fiction at Edinburgh Napier University. She was previously managing editor at Sweet Cherry Publishing for over seven years before joining Edinburgh University Press as journals production editor alongside her studies.
She said: “I am overjoyed to have joined Neem Tree at such an exciting time and with such a friendly, welcoming team.”
Doogue-Khan joins as marketing and PR executive, with five years’ experience in digital marketing. She was recently the marketing manager at Aurora Metro Books following marketing consultancy roles at London-based agencies Vervaunt, Merkle and Found.
Doogue-Khan said: “I’m looking forward to working with Neem Tree’s authors from around the world, and I can’t wait to get their books in front of more readers.”
