Netflix has optioned rights to Hanna Jameson's dystopian thriller called The Last (Viking UK and Atria US).
Rights were acquired from Jonathan Sissons at Peters Fraser & Dunlop.
"Described as Station Eleven meets And Then There Were None, Jameson’s novel combines classic locked room murder mystery with high-concept thriller," reads the synopsis. "It follows the story of an American academic searching for the truth about a girl who has been murdered in his Swiss hotel in the aftermath of a nuclear war that has destroyed most of the Western world."
Netflix plans to develop The Last into a film which will be told in French, German, English and Japanese and will be available in 190 countries.
Jameson (pictured) said: "Netflix have been producing innovative and exceptional projects. I am delighted to be working with them to bring my story to life."
Viking won a "hotly-contested" five-away auction ahead of the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2017 to publish the thriller.
