New Tuomainen to Harvill Secker

Harvill Secker senior crime editor Alison Hennessey has bought a second novel from Finnish writer Antti Tuomainen, whose first book in English, The Healer, was published by the Random House imprint earlier this year.

Hennessey acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Dark as My Heart from Federico Ambrosini at the Salomonsson Agency. Hennessey said the novel "has all the elements of a fantastic psychological thriller which will appeal to fans of Patricia Highsmith and Harvill's own Karin Fossum."

Dark as My Heart is related by Aleksi, whose mother disappeared when he was a boy. Now in his early thirties, he is beset by disturbing memories and applies for a job as caretaker of the isolated seaside estate belonging to his mother's former employer.

The book will be published in 2015.
