Bloomsbury is to embark on "one of its biggest campaigns" ahead of the paperback release of Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid.
Ahead of the new format publication on 29th December, the marketing campaign will include advertising across podcasts such as "Growing up with Gal-Dem", "Table Manners" and "The High Low", and, a sponsored episode of "The Guilty Feminist" podcast.
A multimedia digital advertising campaign is set to reach over five million people, with online coverage from the likes of Gal-Dem and Heist Studios, and Such a Fun Age will be the first book to launch luxury stationery brand Papier’s new book club. In 2020, Bloomsbury was the first publisher to collaborate with both Whistles and Heist Studios on the launches of their book clubs.
Bloomsbury’s publicity campaign includes a Times+ event on 21st January, at which Reid will be in conversation with author and journalist Pandora Sykes, and an event with Fane Productions online on 26th February, which will see Reid speaking to author and journalist Yomi Adegoke. Reid will also appear in conversation with Capital Xtra’s Leah Davies in January; the radio station has chosen Such a Fun Age as its Book of the Month. Publicity kicks off at the end of December with a profile interview in the Observer, followed, in January, by a profile in the Sunday Times Magazine.
One of 2020’s five top-selling debuts, Such a Fun Age was a Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller, longlisted for the 2020 Booker Prize and winner of the 2020 Good Reads Debut Novel award. The novel has sold 35,162 copies across all editions over 2020 via Nielsen BookScan's UK TCM.
