Anne Bowman has been appointed vice-president of business development and global sales at Chelsea Green Publishing.
Formerly the head of new business (children's rights) at Penguin Random House, Bowman started her career as a bookseller at Waterstones before moving to work in US sales at Frances Lincoln, and later to Faber & Faber, where she launched its US publishing and sales programme.
Bowman will be based in the UK, but will split her time between the UK office at Somerset House and the US office in Vermont.
Margo Baldwin, publisher and president of the company, said: “Being an American living in London, who has worked extensively in both US and UK markets and with a passion for sustainable living, Anne is unique in the publishing world and a perfect fit for Chelsea Green. She has made a fantastic success of everywhere she’s been and we have no doubt she will be a vital component in our continued growth.”
Bowman said: “When everyone at home started fermenting and foraging, Chelsea Green already had books about this written by people who had been doing it for years. They are pioneers in so many ways and I am excited to join this dynamic team.”
