Clean Prose, the London-based writers' co-working space, has announced it is to close as a result of "social distancing and the economic downturn" caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Located in Shoreditch, the space hosted masterclasses and workshops with writers including Jasper Fforde, Juno Dawson, Rikki Beadle Blair, Cathy Rentzenbrink, Jason Donald, Brian Leveson, and Katherine May. It was launched last year.
The company had recently launched Clean Prose Talks, a series of curated online live talks with authors and agents to support the writing community during lockdown, hosted by publishing consultant Laura Di Giuseppe.
The series included talks with authors Pragya Agarwal, Jini Reddy, Gemma Milne and Katherine May, and agents Thérèse Coen and Samar Hammam.
Sharon Fulton, director of the company (pictured), said: "I am proud of everything that our team created and accomplished. While saddened that the space is forced to close due to the virus crisis, I have been receiving the kindest notes of support from our wonderful members and collaborators.
"We’ve made a mark in a short time, and I’m sorry that I won’t be able to see how Clean Prose would’ve developed if Covid-19 hadn’t hit. That said, I feel grateful to have met so many lovely people in London’s literary community."
The space will close on 29th May.
