Claire McGowan's What You Did has long been a staple of the Bookstat e-book chart, topping the first top 10 to be featured in The Bookseller and remaining a stalwart ever since. For the week ending 11th April, the Amazon-published author’s new title, The Other Wife, rose to the top of the Bookstat chart, after débuting a week ago.
Beth O’Leary’s The Flatshare made its début in the Bookstat chart in second place, after its price was lowered to 99p. With the paperback also holding firm in the print charts, the title seems to be striking a chord with the nation on lockdown.
Once again, Dean Koontz’s coronavirus prediction The Eyes of Darkness held the Publisher E-Book Ranking number one, for the week ending 4th April. The originally 1981-published thriller entered the chart in mid-March in second place; a week later, it leapfrogged Hilary Mantel’s The Mirror and the Light to claim the top spot, and has stayed there ever since.
Dawn O’Porter’s The Cows rose to usurp her newer title So Lucky for the runner-up spot. Lynda La Plante’s Buried was the highest new entry in second place, with Lee Child’s Blue Moon returning to the top 10 as its paperback edition hit the print charts.
Clarification: Hachette has stated that The Flatshare sold 20,176 units, Blood Orange 15,442 e-books, and In Five Years 12,392 digital copies.
