Chris Young has been hired to consult on the development of DK’s publishing with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). He will also advise on DK’s own gardening list.
Young will team up with the company’s Life division as consultant gardening publisher, reporting to publishing director Katie Cowan, starting from October.
For the past four years Young has been head of editorial at the RHS, and he has edited RHS magazine the Garden since 2010. With responsibility for all RHS content platforms, including books, magazines, podcasts and the website, he has successfully brought the RHS’s content to a broad range of gardeners, DK said. He will continue working part-time for the RHS and in his role as editor of the Garden alongside his new role.
“I’m incredibly excited to be working with DK as consultant gardening publisher," Young commented. "It’s such an important time for gardening, for people making the most of their outdoor space and for mental health and wellbeing. By working with key RHS titles as well as developing DK’s own list, we are sure to make some of the most important, inspirational and beautiful books in the world."
Cowan said: "We are delighted that Chris will be supporting us at DK. His expert knowledge and wealth of experience will be invaluable as we expand our gardening publishing portfolio and build on our position as the number one gardening publisher in the UK. Chris’ passion for gardening and plants is infectious.”
