Distributor Peter Jackson is launching a new company, Over the Rainbow Gifts & Books.
Jackson sold his shipping, warehousing and fulfilment business Complete Logistics, which specialised in book distribution, in October 2019.
But he said that, with his 70th birthday approaching, he wanted to properly launch Over the Rainbow, a company he originally founded in 2014. It will officially open for business on 1st July.
The company offers a range of children's books from pre-school to YA, alongside a range of gifts.
Jackson explained: “I have always had a passion for books and wanted to do something which could be different from the usual online booksellers offering not only unique products at great value but also customer service second to none.”
Jackson will be working out of converted buildings at his home in rural Leicestershire with general manager Rachael Leach. The pair say they will handle the online orders from receipt to delivery including packing and fulfilment.
The company will offer sets of books from firms such as Alligator at a discount along with unique gifts and greeting cards from firms including Brighton-based Special Delivery.
Jackson explained: “Working with Alligator for many years I noticed in particular that no one was offering the whole of the Alligator portfolio in full – over 300 titles – online. We are also going to offer the UK titles from Lake Press, an Australian publisher, having actually incorporated Over the Rainbow Books & Gifts in 2014 with this idea in mind. Now, having invested over £50,000, we are now able to get started.”
