Robert Harris' Munich adapted for Netflix

Jeremy Irons and George MacKay are starring in a feature adaptation for Netflix of the Robert Harris spy thriller Munich (Hutchinson), with shooting already under way.

Director Christian Schwochow, who has also directed episodes of "The Crown" for Netflix, is in charge of a British-German cast which includes Liv Lisa Fries ("Babylon Berlin") and Sandra Huller ("Toni Erdmann").

The novel is set in the autumn of 1938 as Europe stands on the brink of war. As Hitler prepares to invade Czechoslovakia, Neville Chamberlain (Jeremy Irons) is desperate for peace. British civil servant Hugh Legat (George MacKay) and German diplomat Paul von Hartmann (Jannis Niehwohner) travel to Munich for an emergency conference, but find themselves in danger as a political plot unfolds around them.

The novel has been adapted for screen by Ben Power, whose credits include "The Hollow Crown".

The date of broadcast on the screening service has yet to be announced.

Munich was first published in 2017.
