Women's Prize podcast ends second series with Kim Cattrall

Kim Cattrall has rounded off the second series of the "Women's Prize Podcast", picking books by Toni Morrison and Margaret Atwood among her top titles.

On the podcast, released today (Wednesday 23rd December), the “Sex and the City” actress discusses five books that had the biggest impact on her life and career. They are I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou (Virago), The Way of All Women by Esther Harding (Shambhala), Life Before Man by Margaret Atwood (Vintage), Sexual Personae by Camille Paglia (Vintage) and Beloved by Toni Morrison (Vintage).

In a wide-ranging interview by the podcast host Zing Tsjeng, Cattrall talks about her decision not to have children, being photographed nude as “modern day Aphrodite” Samantha Jones, personal loss, ageing in Hollywood and Donald Trump's cameo on "Sex and the City".

She said: “I think the world is considered a man's world, don't you? I’m growing impatient. I'm 64… I want to see it all, I want to see more. One of the reasons that I became a producer was that I wanted to see women in their 60s on television and in films, I want to see plays about them.”

This episode is one of the 25 editions of the podcast, produced in celebration of its 25th anniversary year, in partnership with Baileys. The season celebrated the best fiction written by women, with guests including Lily Cole, entrepreneur Martha Lane-Fox, Joanna Trollope, feminist campaigner Laura Bates and Ruby Wax.
