E-commerce firm Monwell has launched the Mail Bookshop with Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday.
The Mail Bookshop, hosted at books.mailshop.co.uk, will stock a "wide range" of books, with the online experience promised to "closely reflect the titles featured in the Mail and Mail on Sunday [as] a stylish and exciting reflection of the Mail’s renowned brand".
Monwell specialises in operating online shops with media brands, already providing online bookshops for the Guardian, Times Literary Supplement and Archant Community Media. Book fulfilment is provided by Gardners.
The Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday are among the UK’s most widely read newspapers, with circulations respectively of 1.13 million and 0.96 million in February 2020, according to media measurement organisation ABC. Book reviews, features, interviews and extracts form a central part of their editorial content.
Showcasing books featured both in the pages and on the website of the newspaper, the online shop is to offer readers "an opportunity to discover high-quality books at great prices".
Nick Sidwell, co-founder of Monwell, said: "We are delighted to be launching a new shop with the Mail. It’s well-known that a piece in the Mail is a fantastic way of getting a book in front of millions of readers. We’re truly excited about pairing this with our online bookselling expertise and making the Mail Bookshop a brilliant place to buy books. We’re really looking forward to making the most of the opportunity with Gardners and all the publishers we work closely with."
Tynan Stanyer, head of e-commerce at the Daily Mail, said: "We look forward to working closely with Monwell to give our readers access to a huge catalogue of books at great value, and first-class customer service. We are excited to combine the Daily Mail Group’s huge range of editorial coverage along with Monwell's expertise in providing a books fulfilment service."
