Mushens Entertainment has hired Silé Edwards from Curtis Brown as an agent focusing on non-fiction but also building a select fiction list.
Edwards, who has been working as Cathryn Summerhayes' assistant at Curtis Brown, will join on 7th September.
She began her publishing careership with a number of internships while studying for a degree in English with Creative Writing at Goldsmiths University. After graduating she worked at the Publishers Association supporting their campaigns and other communications functions. She then moved to Curtis Brown as an assistant in the book department. She is also a trustee for mentoring charity and network Arts Emergency.
Mushens said: “I’ve long admired Silé’s entrepreneurial spirit and passion for finding new voices – she has a really commercial eye and fantastic energy. Her taste complements my own and I’m excited for her to work with myself and Liza DeBlock to grow the agency even further.”
Edwards added: “I am beyond thrilled to be joining Juliet and Liza at Mushens Entertainment. Juliet is an amazing mentor — I have so much respect for her relentless work ethic, incredible deal making skills and joyous sense of fun. I will miss my friends and colleagues at Curtis Brown: it has been such a privilege to have worked with such a talented group of people and on such a vastly eclectic and gifted list. I am so excited to begin growing my very own list of writers. I want to discover and represent a diverse range of fresh, distinctive talent, experts and brands in the non-fiction space whilst also finding exciting fiction writers.”
