Publicist Jamie-Lee Nardone has launched Black Crow, a boutique marketing and events agency specialising in genre fiction, pop culture and “all things nerd”.
Black Crow will use a team of freelances with expert genre knowledge and commercial insight on brand and PR strategy to deliver bespoke campaigns and services for authors and publishers across a variety of platforms, from targeted media outreach to one-of-a-kind events.
The firm was set up by Nardone, a publicist who has worked with crime giants including M C Beaton and Simon Brett, legends of horror Max Brooks, Ramsey Campbell and Grady Hendrix, and science fiction and fantasy writers such as Ransom Riggs, Naomi Novik, John Scalzi and Charles Stross.
She explained: “Faced with the difficulties that 2020 has brought to the industry, I had to look for opportunities to keep working, to find creative and innovative ways to evolve, and to give my clients the fullest representation possible. The result was Black Crow.
“As work has increased, so has the team, bringing a variety of expertise from search engine optimisation and content marketing to digital events. While I'll be using the agency to build the client list and showcase the work we do, I'll also be looking forward to a couple of exciting side projects.”
Bella Pagan, editorial director of Tor, praised Nardone, calling her "professional and dedicated", with contacts "second to none" and "great publicity instincts and ideas."
