Canongate has promoted Jessica Neale (pictured) to rights and contracts director, as Andrea Joyce steps down as rights director after 13 years with the company.
Neale joined Canongate in 2011 having previously worked at Penguin and the Wylie Agency. She has been senior rights manager at Canongate since 2016.
Jamie Byng, c.e.o., commented: "Jess has played an increasingly crucial part in the success and professionalism with which Canongate’s highly regarded rights department operates. Not only has she overseen the whole contracts side of our business with seeming effortlessness, but working closely with Andrea Joyce and Caroline Clarke, she has been at the forefront of the department’s international rights selling efforts. I am truly delighted at the prospect of Jess moving into this key role within the company as well as her joining the senior management team with immediate effect.
"We are sad that Andrea Joyce is stepping down as rights director after 13 years at Canongate, during which time she played a key role in leading our rights team and I am immensely grateful for all that she has done for Canongate over this lengthy period. And on behalf of the company, I wanted to express our sincere appreciation for all the hard work and passion she has consistently poured into our authors and their books, as well as for being such a delightful colleague."
Joyce left on 6th April and can be contacted on afgjoyce@gmail.com.
