Ladybird is releasing a new Peppa Pig book about doctors and nurses with 10% of the print book r.r.p. going to coronavirus charities.
Peppa Loves Doctors and Nurses, out on 11th June in paperback (£6.99), will see its porcine protagonist have a visit from Dr Brown Bear and Nurse Fox and learn the importance of washing hands, staying healthy and “experience the brilliant work done by all doctors and nurses”.
Money will be given from UK sales to the Covid-19 Urgent Appeal run by NHS Charities Together, with sales outside the UK, US and Canada going to the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organisation. Ladybird hopes it will introduce youngsters to some of the key health messages they might be hearing at the moment in a familiar and reassuring environment.
Ladybird’s licensing publisher Leanne Gill said: “Dr Brown Bear and Nurse Fox—like all of our wonderful health professionals the world over—are much-loved by Peppa and her friends. Here at Ladybird we wanted to publish a book that not only reassures and supports children in this unsettling time, but that also leaves a lasting legacy of support to the amazing work done by medical professionals.”
NHS Charities Together c.e.o. Ellie Orton, says: “You know your fundraising appeal has reached a new level when an icon like Peppa Pig gets behind it. We are really honoured that we will be one of the beneficiaries of this new book celebrating health workers and I hope it sells in shedloads.”
