Sally Phillips has recorded the audiobook edition of Alexandra Potter’s new novel Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up.
The book is Potter’s first title with Macmillan, and will be released in audio on 31st December 2020 alongside the hardback and e-book editions.
Confessions of a Fortysomething F**k Up tells the story of Nell Stevens, who moves back to London from California after losing her business and fiance. The synopsis explains: “When she lands a job writing obituaries, Nell meets the fabulous Cricket, an 80-something widow with challenges of her own, and they strike up an unlikely friendship. Together they begin to help each other heal their aching hearts, cope with the loss of the lives they had planned, and push each other into new adventures and unexpected joys.
Foreign rights to the book have sold in 10 countries, and negotiations for a screen rights deal are underway.
Phillips is an award-winning actor, writer and comedian-presenter, best known for her roles in “I’m Alan Partridge”, “Smack the Pony” and “Miranda”.
Potter said: ”As a long-time fan of Sally Phillips, I am over the Moon; there is no-one better to narrate the story of Nell and Cricket.”
