New routes to market and the future of children’s publishing are some of the topics that will be under discussion at The Bookseller Children’s Conference, which is taking place next week (28th September – 1stOctober).
Monday’s "State of the Nation" discussions will start with Barbara Marcus, president and publisher of Random House Children’s in the US pictured, who will describe the market in the US and the work Random House is doing to reach out to global markets.
The Bookseller’s Kiera O’Brien and Nielsen Book will reveal exclusive data about children’s book sales and how the market changed during Covid19, while speakers from Usborne, the BBC and BookTrust will debate how the need for online learning resources affects the book industry.
The speakers who will look at new routes to market include actress and social media star Carrie Hope Fletcher, and Tom Walker, who is the c.e.o. of the new book subscription service Love My Read. Jelani Memory, founder of A Kids Book About, is taking part to talk about quick publishing turnarounds, and Sarah McMillan from Simon & Schuster will give tips on making a marketing campaign go global. Anyone interested in marketing will enjoy case studies from Come Round and Belle Media, too.
On the final day of the conference the speakers, including Dapo Adeola, Nathan Bryon and Katherine Rundell, will set out their vision for the future and address the folowing questions: Where are we heading? And what does the book world need to do to reach readers and look after their artists?
