The audiobook version of Shola Von Reinhold's debut Lote (Jacaranda) will feature narration from award-winning “Fresh Meat” star Zawe Ashton.
Coinciding with the print release, part of Jacaranda's #Twentyin2020 campaign to publish 20 titles by Black British writers this year, the audio edition is released release on Audible today (Thursday 26th March 2020).
Its synopsis explains: “Lote follows present-day narrator Mathilda, who has long been attuned to the aesthetics of her environment and enamoured with the Bright Young Things of the 1920s. This fixation culminates when Mathilda uncovers a ‘forgotten’ Black Scottish modernist poet, Hermia Drumm. As she endeavours to unearth everything she can about this Black Princess, she enrols in an artist residency dedicated to opposing extravagance and aesthetic.”
Alongside Ashton, there will also be narration from “Doctor Who” actor Adjoa Andoh and “The Stranger” star Aurora Burghart.
Audible is partnering with Jacaranda to exclusively produce the audio releases of all 20 titles in its series. Titles already released are Through the Leopard’s Gaze written and narrated by comedian Njambi McGrath, The Space Between Black and White written and narrated by Esuantsiwa Jane Goldsmith and Under Solomon Skies by Berni Sorga-Millwood, narrated by Damian Lynch.
