Waterstones is launching a podcast series with six themed fortnightly episodes featuring authors such as David Nicholls and Elizabeth Day.
Inspired by the wide range of authors appearing at Waterstones events across the country, the podcast offers listeners the chance to hear authors going beyond the book to talk about the themes and ideas that obsess us all, said the book chain. The podcast will launch on Wednesday (17th July).
Each episode will tackle a different topic with season one featuring discussions on the themes of Beginnings, Friendship, Sex, Perfection, Success and Family. The podcast will incorporate recordings from events and interviews, plus studio guests such as Nicholls, Day and Hannah Witton appearing on selected episodes.
Other featured authors include Arundhati Roy, Michael Palin, Tomi Adeyemi, Sebastian Faulks, Angie Thomas and Jeanette Winterson.
Will Rycroft, audience development manager and host of The Waterstones Podcast, said: “I wanted to create something that didn’t sound like other books podcasts. Waterstones has incredible authors visiting its shops every day and through my interviews with them I’ve found that it’s when a conversation develops that the revelatory moment can arrive. This podcast will share the unique atmosphere of our live events together with the far more intimate conversations that happen in the studio to create a truly engaging listening experience for all book lovers.”
Day, author and host of the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast, added: “I’m so looking forward to hearing some of the world’s most amazing authors interviewed about their craft on the Waterstones podcast. It promises to be enlightening and entertaining in equal measure.”
Season one of The Waterstones Podcast will be hosted by Rycroft together with Dan Bird and Holly Davies from the Waterstones events team.
