Nick Ash has joined Rachel Mills Literary (RML) as international rights agent, working alongside rights director Alexandra Cliff. Ash was previously rights manager at Bonnier Books UK, where he had worked since June 2021.
Cliff said: “RML’s list has grown exponentially since we set up 5 years ago, and translation rights have always been a fundamental part of what we offer authors, so it made sense that the first hire we made as part of our expansion was a new rights agent. Nick embodies all the qualities important to us as a team—driven, passionate with a genuine enthusiasm for building relationships all over the world—so Rachel, Nelle, Charlotte and I are thrilled he has joined us.”
RML director Rachel Mills said: "As a former Rights Director, I cannot value more highly the curiosity, open-mindedness and energy of good translation agents, who love finding the ideas and words which unite us across the globe—and who think that Frankfurt is as much fun as I do. It’s a joy to have Nick on the team."
Ash said: "I’m really excited to get cracking at RML, and right into Frankfurt-season nonetheless! Since I met Alexandra and Rachel, I knew working in this team to best represent their stellar list of authors internationally would be an ideal next step for me. I’m keen to hit the ground running and start enthusing about the many projects on the horizon for our authors."
Alongside RML’s clients, the agency also handles rights for Robert Caskie, YMU, 42MP, Bergstrom Studio and The Plot Agency.
