Performing arts publisher Nick Hern Books (NHB) will bring a pop-up bookshop back to the Bush Theatre in London’s Shepherd’s Bush later this month, in support of the theatrical charity Arts Emergency.
The Big Bargain Bookshop will be held on 26th and 27th July, following its first appearance at the same location in 2021. The pop-up bookshop (open from 1 p.m. to 7.30 p.m) will offer a range of play scripts and books at one-off prices, with hundreds available for £2.
The selection will include NHB-published play scripts, and "practical" career books for theatre-makers and other creatives. Moreover, 20% of the proceeds from all sales will go to Arts Emergency, which helps under-resourced young people to study, train and work in the creative industries.
NHB’s first pop-up bookshop, which was held at the Bush Theatre in November 2021, saw thousands of books sold over two days. This year’s event will run alongside performances of the play "My Father’s Fable" by Faith Omole (NHB).
Jon Barton, head of sales and marketing at NHB, said: "As well as being fellow residents of Shepherd’s Bush, they’re also one of the UK’s most exciting and respected producers of new writing – so we can’t think of a better venue to partner with. We’re also proud that every purchase made will raise money for Arts Emergency."
