The National Literacy Trust (NLT) raised £210,000 during its annual gala dinner, held in London last night (Thursday, 24th March).
During the event, NLT c.e.o Jonathan Douglas CBE outlined the work and people the charity has reached over the past year. This included the Primary School Library Alliance, which has put more than 400 libraries into primary schools across the UK, and the National Literacy Trust’s work support of the early years sector, including families with young children who are continuing to struggle after the Covid-19 lockdowns.
Among those in attendance were Ian Hislop, Adele Parks, Axel Scheffler, Charlie Higson, Sharna Jackson, Cressida Cowell and Miles Jupp, who presided over the event. Publishers including Pan Macmillan, Penguin Random House, HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster were also represented at the event.
