Noel Murphy will join Granta Books and Granta Magazine as commercial director next month.
Previously sales and marketing director at Yale University Press following stints as chief executive of the New Zealand Book Council and head of marketing at Faber, Murphy is also a former Waterstones bookseller.
Murphy said: "I’m thrilled to be joining Granta, a publisher with both a wonderful heritage and an exciting future. I’m looking forward to contributing to that future and can’t wait to start working with the team and the extraordinary group of authors in the Granta family."
He will have responsibility for driving and implementing the commercial strategy at Granta, and will lead the sales, marketing and publicity teams. He will join the Granta management team, jointly reporting to publisher Sigrid Rausing and publishing director Bella Lacey when he takes up the post on 23rd September.
Rausing said: "We’re delighted to welcome Noel to Granta – I very much look forward to working with him."
