Nosy Crow has bought a middle grade novel set in Sri Lanka by Nizrana Farook, who graduated from the Bath Spa MA Writing for Young People course last year.
The Girl Who Stole an Elephant is about a girl called Chaya, who leads her friend and an elephant on an adventure through the jungle.
Nosy Crow bought world rights to two books from Joanna Moult at the Skylark Literary Agency and will publish The Girl Who Stole an Elephant in January 2020.
Farook, who was born and raised in Sri Lanka and now lives in the UK, said: “For months, while the frost glittered and the air was chilly outside I sat and plugged away at a tropical world of action and colour inside my head, creating The Girl Who Stole an Elephant. I couldn't be happier to trust Nosy Crow with the next part of its journey as they introduce it to the world.”
