Nosy Crow has bought the rights to three new novels by David Solomons and five by Pamela Butchart.
Solomons will publish a fifth book in his ‘My Brother’ series, which began with My Brother is a Superhero, the winner of the Waterstones Children’s Book of the Year and the Children’s Book of the Year at the British Book Industry Awards in 2016. The fourth instalment is called My Arch-Enemy is a Brain in a Jar and will publish on 28th June. Nosy Crow also bought the rights to two books in a new series, set to launch in 2020.
Nosy Crow also bought five titles by Butchart; three in the ‘Izzy’ series, illustrated by Thomas Flintham and two in the ‘Wigglesbottom Primary’ series, illustrated by Becka Moor.
Nosy Crow’s Head of Fiction, Kirsty Stansfield, struck deals for world rights in all languages with Solomons’ agent Mark Stanton from The North Literary Agency and Butchart’s agent Becky Bagnell at the Lindsay Literary Agency.
Kate Wilson, m.d. of Nosy Crow, said: “We are delighted to announce our long-term plans with David and Pamela. We couldn’t be more proud of both of them, and all they’ve achieved in such a short time: David’s debut bestseller was published in 2015 and Pamela just a year earlier. They’ve built their sales through a remarkably wide range of channels, from indies, through the chains to supermarkets, and they’ve each won hugely prestigious national awards. They are such different writers, but they share an ability to make children laugh, and to want to read more.”
