Nosy Crow has bought world rights to two middle grade novels by YA author Carlie Sorosiak and has already sold US rights to Walker Books US.
The first book, I, Cosmo, is the story about one dog and how he tries to keep his human family together when everything around them falls apart.
Senior commissioning editor Tom Bonnick bought world rights from Claire Wilson of RCW and will publish in summer 2019. The US English rights were pre-empted by Susan Van Metre at Walker Books US, an imprint of Candlewick Press.
Bonnick said: “I knew that I wanted to publish I, Cosmo from the very first page: it is one of those vanishingly rare books that you can’t help falling in love with immediately. In Cosmo, Carlie has created a truly wonderful hero – overflowing with warmth and heart in the way that only a Golden Retriever can be – and I’m so thrilled to be able to work with her on this book.”
Carlie Sorosiak grew up in North Carolina is the author of two novels for young adults, If Birds Fly Back and Wild Blue Wonder (both published by Macmillan Children’s Books in the UK and HarperTeen in the US).
