Sophie O’Reirdan has been appointed head of sales at Pluto Press.
She will take up her new post in November. O’Reirdan moves from Compass Independent Publishing Services where she has held various positions since joining in 2016, initially as a sales representative before becoming specialist sales manager, developing the company's less traditional account channels, including the heritage sector.
O’Reirdan has 20 years' experience in the books industry, first joining Blackwell's before moving to RSM Press, TSO as export sales manager, then to Oberon Books before joining Compass.
Pluto Press m.d. Veruschka Selbach said she was "very excited" to welcome O’Reirdan to the team at Pluto. She said: "We’ve benefited from the amazing work she has done at Compass for our list. Pluto Press has seen extraordinary growth in the past couple of years. Sophie’s energy and enthusiasm, combined with her years of experience, are going to be a game-changer for us."
O’Reirdan added: “Although I’m sad to be leaving my colleagues and customers at Compass IPS – some of the best in the business - I’m thrilled to be joining Pluto Press, a publisher that I have worked with for the past five years and long admired. I’m excited to be getting stuck into being part of a publishing company as a whole again, working with the entire team at Pluto, from the commissioning process right through to the nitty gritty of getting copies on shelves."
