Journalist and book reviewer Deirdre O’Brien is joining The Bookseller to cover New Titles: Fiction while Madeleine Feeny is on maternity leave.
O’Brien has worked as a journalist for over 20 years, specialising in books for the past decade. She wrote a weekly book review column for the Sunday Mirror for eight years, contributed reviews for Crime Scene magazine and currently compiles a monthly book column for Best magazine.
She said: “Having read The Bookseller for many years, I’m delighted to take on this maternity cover. I’m really looking forward to finding out about the wealth of new titles hitting the shelves, looking out for new trends and picking out some future favourites.”
Books editor Alice O’Keeffe added: “I’m very pleased that Deirdre is joining the ranks of The Bookseller’s books previewers. With her passion for books and proven eye for a critical and commercial hit, she will be an invaluable addition to the team.”
O’Brien’s first preview will cover June 2023 and run in the 3rd March issue. Publishers should submit title information by Friday 13th January. She can be reached at newtitlesfiction@thebookseller.com.
