HarperCollins division One More Chapter has scooped a feel-good Christmas title from Kitty Wilson, author of The Cornish Village School series (Canelo).
Publishing director Charlotte Ledger acquired world English language rights from Hayley Steed at the Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency in a two-book deal. Every Day in December will publish in e-book and audio this August, followed by the paperback in time for December.
The publisher said: "The story will whisk readers on the perfect festive romance . . . Belle Wilde loves December. Yes, she’s just lost her job and Christmas is not a good time to find yourself ‘financially challenged’. And yes, her parents are still going on about the fact that she really should have it all together by now. But Belle believes that in December, magic can happen. Rory Walters hates December. While it looks like his life is together, he’s still reeling from a winter’s night five years ago when his life changed forever. Now back at home, he’s certain that this will be yet another Christmas to endure rather than enjoy. But as midnight on 31st December draws closer, Belle and Rory’s time together is coming to an end. With a little help from a Christmas miracle could Belle find the one thing she really wants underneath the mistletoe?"
Ledger said: “We are delighted to welcome Kitty Wilson to One More Chapter and be publishing her first standalone novel. Every Day in December is the romcom we’ve been looking for, full of love, laughter and that sprinkle of festive warmth and we can’t wait for readers to fall in love with Belle and Rory, just as we have.”
Wilson added: “I am absolutely delighted to be working with One More Chapter. Not only are they leaders in the commercial fiction market but I have been blown away by the support and encouragement from the whole team and am truly proud to be a part of the One More Chapter family.”
Steed commented: “Every Day in December is a festive delight, delivering both belly-laughs and tender teary moments, and I am so excited for everyone to read the first standalone romcom by Kitty Wilson."
