Oneworld has appointed Penguin Press' Cecilia Stein as senior commissioning editor for non-fiction.
Joining on June 8th, Stein will work alongside current non-fiction editors Sam Carter, Bill Swainson and Novin Doostdar, tasked with "acquiring titles that change the way people see the world, from ideas—big and small—to philosophy, memoir, social issues and culture".
At Penguin Press, as commissioning editor Stein published and championed a wide range of authors including Emma Dabiri, Tom Nancollas, Paul Dolan, Flo Perry, Johny Pitts, Coralie Bickford-Smith, Sir Roderick Floud and Jancis Robinson.
Doostdar, Oneworld non-fiction publisher, said: "we’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Cecilia to the team. We’ve been very impressed by her astute eye for literary talent and hands-on approach to nurturing projects from an early stage. Bringing someone with her experience and wide range of interests into our award-winning team is a clear statement of our ambition for serious, intelligent non-fiction at Oneworld."
Stein said: "I will always cherish my time at Penguin Press and the opportunities it has afforded me. I will miss my authors and many wonderful colleagues. Oneworld’s dynamism and guts are irresistible at this stage in my career and I can’t wait to join such a spirited team in publishing books that seek to challenge the conversation, inspire and delight."
The appointment follows the departure of Alex Christofi from Oneworld to Transworld in February.
