Novels by Dawn O'Porter, Robert Harris and Jane Fallon are among the six-strong line up for Richard and Judy's Book Club this summer, featuring three titles from Penguin Books.
First on the list is former journalist Harris' The Second Sleep (Penguin). Described by Richard Madeley as "one of the best things Harris has written", the thriller follows a young priest observing the artefacts of a previous civilisation that "ended in cataclysm".
Fallon's Queen Bee (Penguin), a "cracking comedy of manners" also features, alongside Erin Kelly's We Know, You Know (Hachette). Judy Finnigan said of Kelly's book, "a running undercurrent of suspense fills these pages", as the novel exposes the truth of an aslyum.
Described by Madeley as a "deliciously naughty read", O'Porter's So Lucky (HarperCollins), a "bold and brilliant" novel about three women who struggle to keep up appearances, has also been chosen.
Nicci French's "pacey , twisty thriller" The Lying Room (Simon & Schuster) will "grab you right up until the last page", said Madeley, and is the penultimate title in the selection.
Completing the line-up is Anna Hope's latest novel, Expectation (Penguin), which tells the story of three young women living in east London.“I absolutely love this book. It’s so emotionally intelligent, so insightful, and so beautifully written," said Finnigan.
This summer's book club launches with a new series of podcasts, which will feature in-depth discussions about the selected books and interviews with the authors. They are available to listen to from today (9th July).
The book club is run exclusively with W H Smith.
