Orenda Books is taking its authors to bookshops around the country in March for the indie publisher's fourth roadshow.
Running from 4th to 7th March, the Orenda Roadshow will visit bookshops in Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and Hungerford.
Its international line-up includes Nordic noir writer Kjell Ola Dahl, Australian author Helen FitzGerald, whose bestseller The Cry (Faber) was adapted for the BBC last year, and Iceland’s Lilja Sigurdardottir. Homegrown writers also join the event, including Attend writer West Camel, Steph Broadribb, author of the Lori Anderson series, Scottish novelist Doug Johnstone and psychological thriller writer Louise Voss.
Orenda Books at Bedtime has also been launched, with authors filmed reading from their works. The footage goes out on social media channels and YouTube at 8pm on Sundays, racking up 180,000 views in its first week.
Karen Sullivan, founder and publisher of Orenda Books, said: “This the fourth year that we’ve taken a team of authors on the road – up to 16 of them on some dates – and it’s proved to be one of our most successful marketing strategies. Putting authors in front of readers in an informal setting, to talk about and read from their books, answer audience questions from the audience, and often visit the pub together afterwards, has built an incredibly strong and engaged readership around the country.
“It’s a fun and lively event, and particularly effective in introducing international authors to a UK audience. Perhaps most importantly, however, it is an incredible team-building exercise, and everyone on that team benefits hugely.”
Further details and tickets are available on the Orenda website.
