Orion has announced Alice Lloyd is joining the publisher in a new role of commissioning editor for audio and podcasts.
Reporting to Trapeze publisher Anna Valentine, the job will see her work across all imprints to commission and develop original audio content. Existing titles will also get the audio treatment.
Lloyd began as a broadcast journalist for local BBC radio before moving into documentary production for Radio 1 and 1xtra on subjects from Scientology to One Direction. She has spent the last two years as executive producer of audio speech content for Wisebuddah, devising and managing projects for Audible, the Science Museum and BBC Radio 1 and 4.
Valentine said the appointment would bring “new energy, focus and dedication to innovating and investing” in the booming audio market. She said: “Alice has an outstanding reputation in the audio industry, and she will be transformative to our authors and our publishing overall.”
Lloyd, who starts the role on 6th May, said: “It’s a fantastic time to be in the audio industry and I’m so excited to be joining a company that recognises the opportunities around original audio content. Stories are stories no matter where they come from, and publishing and podcasting are natural bedfellows. I’m especially thrilled to be working closely with Trapeze who champion the kinds of authors and subjects I’m passionate about.”
