Orion Publishing Group has announced a string of editorial promotions across its imprints, with Tierney Witty, Claire Ormsby-Potter, Florence Filose and Laura Paton all stepping up with immediate effect.
Witty has been promoted to editor at Seven Dials, and has during his time at the publisher acquired books such as Look North! by Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram, States of Play by Miguel Delaney and Manchester Is Red Again by Samuel Luckhurst.
In his new role he will be acquiring across the Seven Dials and Trapeze Non-Fiction lists. He is based in Hachette’s Manchester office and will be commissioning more Northern voices.
Ormsby-Potter has been promoted to editor at Gollancz after joining in 2020 as editorial assistant. Originally covering Gollancz’s classics list Masterworks its digital imprint Gateway, her “exceptional passion and meticulous attention to detail” led to her role expanding to incorporate a commissioning remit.
Filose has been promoted to senior gift editor. She joined the Laurence King Publishing (LKP) gift editorial team in 2022, taking on brands including Agatha Christie and "Bridgerton" alongside the Infinite Maze, the A to Z of Cats, and the World of Virginia Woolf. Filose is based at Hachette’s Bristol office, where she will continue to publish LKP’s gift list as well as establishing strong links with the community with an additional focus on growing LKP’s regional illustrators and authors.
Meanwhile at LKP, Laura Paton has been promoted to commissioning editor, having joined the business as senior editor in February 2022. She project edited Marina Abramovic: A Visual Biography, and commissioned The Women Who Changed Photography and What Art Can Tell Us About Love. The publisher says she is developing “unique and key “acquisitions for LKP’s 2025 list.
