Orion has made several promotions within its marketing team, making Sarah Benton [pictured] executive publisher and Lynsey Sutherland marketing director. Tom Noble, previously senior digital marketing manager at Pan Macmillan and recent maternity cover at Orion, has also accepted a permanent role at Orion as head of marketing.
Benton joined the company in September 2016 from HarperFiction, and is promoted to executive publisher from group marketing and strategy director at Orion. In her new position she will continue to oversee all aspects of Orion’s publishing, with specific responsibility for managing the art, publicity and marketing department, reporting as before to managing director Katie Espiner.
Sutherland joined Orion from Bloomsbury in February 2017 and has been promoted to marketing director. Among her successes are campaigns for brand authors including Cathy Kelly and Veronica Henry and for launch titles such as The Guilty Wife by Elle Croft, which has sold more than 100,000 copies. Sutherland will continue to report to Benton.
Noble now joins Orion in a permanent capacity as head of marketing after providing Anna Bowen's maternity cover as head of marketing for non-fiction since January 2018. He will report to Sutherland. Bowen will return from maternity leave to her previous role.
Espiner, Orion m.d., said: "Lynsey, Tom and Sarah are all exceptionally talented and a joy to work with. I am absolutely delighted we are able to recognise the creative, innovative and impressive work they deliver for our authors with these well-deserved promotions."
